Penguin Island and Dolphin Watch Adventure Cruise - Shoalwater, WA
The Experience
Experience an exhilarating 90 minute combination of adventure style boating and wildlife viewing. Our primary mission is to have you up close and personal with the local wild dolphins. Meet Logo, Boomerang, Blizzard or any other of over 200 local dolphins that we have come to know as friends. You may see mothers looking after new born calves, learn how they use stingrays to catch their dinner or see them spectacularly jumping out of the wake of our boat!
After spending some quality time with the dolphins, our return journey takes in the highlights of Shoalwater Bay including.
Ancient fossilized remnant Tuart Forest in Aladdin’s Cave, Bird Island
Ospreys nest, Gull Rock
Australian sea lion colony, Seal Island (the rarest species of sea lion in the world)
Pelican rookery, Penguin Island
Terns, cormorants, gulls, shearwaters and other seabirds that make up the 16 different species which nest on the islands
Cruise concludes on Penguin Island and includes free time to explore at your leisure and visit the Discovery Centre for the penguin feeding
The marine park and the wildlife are definitely the main attractions, however, the exhilarating ride onboard our rigid hull inflatable boat brings a real sense of adventure to the cruise which thrills our passengers. Our 12.5 metre boat was purpose built for wildlife viewing - it’s designed for speed, safety, comfort and to go where other boats cannot! Covered, open air seating give each passenger an excellent all round view. The open sided design also ensures a direct connection with the environment, rather than being enclosed behind glass, our passengers are right in the adventure- seeing the wildlife up close, feeling every thrill and experiencing the beauty of the marine park first hand.

When you book your tour it is important that you leave us with a contact number for where you are staying in Perth (preferably a mobile that you will be carrying with you on the day of your tour). If we need to cancel we will contact you to see if you can reschedule for another date.
On rare occasions we have to cancel a tour due to weather at the very last minute. This means our office may be trying to contact you from 8am on the morning of your tour so it would be helpful if you could have your mobiles switched on just in case.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How close do we come to the dolphins?
A: The dolphins come incredibly close- they often enjoy ‘surfing the bow’ of the boat where they sit in the pressure wave created by the movement of the boats hull through the water.
Q: Can we touch the dolphins
A: To ensure that we do not harm the dolphins in anyway by transmitting skin diseases or damaging their protective skin layer we adhere to a strict ‘no touch policy’.
Q: I get sea sick- is it rough where we are going?
A: The waters we work in are classified as partially smooth. They are mostly located within a sheltered bay so we are not exposed to the open ocean. However, it does get choppy at times and everyone’s susceptibility to sea sickness is different. If you suspect that seasickness will be an issue for you we suggest you visit a pharmacy prior to the tour to obtain appropriate medication. We cannot issue you with any form of seasickness tablet as they may interfere with other medication you are on or pre existing medical conditions.
Q: Can we take photos/ film?
A: Amateurs are welcome to take photos or film for your own personal/ non commercial use- we just ask that you don’t use a flash as it startles the dolphins. If you are filming for commercial purposes we need to speak with you to fill out the appropriate paperwork prior to the tour.
Q: Can we feed the dolphins?
A: Definitely not - it’s terrible for their health and would ruin the unique friendship we have with the dolphins which is based on a mutual curiosity and enjoyment of one another’s company, rather than food.
