Perhaps the most famous inhabitants are the native Weedy Sea Dragons, a small fish that’s closely related to the sea horse but is believed to be the only species of its kind in the World. The colony at Port Phillip Bay is believed to be one of the largest which is why people come from all over the world to dive and snorkel the area.
Beautiful soft corals and sponge life are spread throughout the bay as well as various species of hermit crabs and coastal fish such as Spine Globe Puffer Fish and Stargazers – a species of fish with eyes on the top of their head!
