Two Day Lead Rock Climbing Course – Perth, WA
The Experience
This is an instructional two-day course designed to develop the technical skills, experience and confidence needed to safely pursue lead rock climbing.
The rock face offers a full range of climbing challenges and serves as an ideal environment for learning the art of protection placement (Trad Gear - camming devices, wire stoppers, hexentrics nuts and the like) which is integral to traditional lead climbing.
Every piece of protection placed over the two days is critically reviewed by an experienced instructor, providing participants with constant feedback and ensuring appropriate safety is maintained throughout the course whilst you learn. We have a high instructor to participant ratio of 1:4.
Experience content:
Revision of knots and top-rope belay systems
Introduction to lead rock climbing equipment - its design and application
Protection placement and the use of slings to minimise rope drag
Establishing multi-anchor belays using artificial and/or natural protection
Lead rock climbing belay systems and communication between climbers
Leader falls — how to fall and direction of force on the system
Climber safety and self rescue
Rock climbing technique
Rock climbing ethics

The course is set at an intermediate level, so you should be a confident top-rope climber with experience in establishing belay systems (utilising natural and/or man-made anchors) and belaying climbers.

Besides the necessary clothes listed, you will need to bring:
Personal food requirements for the duration of the course
Day pack for personal gear during course
2 litre water bottle
Towel, toiletries and personal medication
insect repellent
Torch, pocket knife
Camera (optional)
Bathers (we might find time for a swim)
A retainer strap for all glasses and sunglasses. Should you depend on glasses or contact lenses for comfort and survival we strongly advise bringing a second pair

A: We provide all the necessary gear, but if you have your own, feel free to bring it along.

A: We have a great ration at 1 instructor to every four participants so you are guaranteed to receive the attention you deserve.
Q: Is there a discount if I book for a more than one person?
