The Experience

An action packed half day of fun, excitement and adventure in the Blue Mountains. Ideal for people with little or no previous experience, the Beginners Abseiling Course is the perfect introduction to the thrilling world of roped adventures. Our highly qualified and experienced instructors will safely guide you through a series of adrenalin pumping abseils from a 2 metre high nursery slope to a breathtaking 30 metres. Do as many jumps as your enthusiasm and fitness allows.

We utilise the Blue Mountains' best venue at Katoomba in the spectacular Blue Mountains region. With awesome views across to Katoomba Falls, Echo Point and the world famous Three Sisters, there is no better place to abseil.

On the course you will learn about cliff line safety, the proper abseil technique, correct use of the figure of 8 descender, pre abseil checks, standard calls as well as braking and belaying techniques. The emphasis is on safety and fun as you progress to higher abseils.

If you are feeling a little apprehensive, don't! Nervous beginners are our speciality. Your friendly instructor will provide plenty of encouragement and will even abseil down beside you, if necessary.

This half day beginners abseiling course will enable you to participate on our Advanced Abseiling Course, our various abseiling expeditions and our extensive range of intermediate canyon tours.

The course includes friendly, expert instructors, specialised abseiling equipment, and your complimentary Beginners Abseiling Course certificate.

It's not hard to see why this is a fantastic experience, but do be careful...abseiling is addictive!

Upgrade to the Intermediate Abseiling Package

This package includes 4 hours of abseiling and is done primarily on 60m cliffs and also includes overhangs and freefalls! Please note beginners can still do this course also, the cost of this package is $135 per person.

Additional Info

Abseiling, or Rappelling as it is often called, is one of the most popular adventure activities in Australia. It is simply a method of descending a rope in a controlled and safe manner.

Originally developed by rock climbers and mountaineers to safely descend cliffs and mountains, it has in recent times become an exciting adventure in its own right. It has developed into a skill that is essential in areas and activities such as caving, canyoning, search and rescue, scientific field research, building maintenance and the military.

Experience the adrenalin rush as you conquer your fear of heights and enjoy that special delight of, what is, sliding down a rope.

Must be 7 years and older.

Please note you must provide at least 48 hours notice for any change of time or date for your booked activity.

Duration

All half day abseiling starts at either 9.00am or 1.30pm and is for 3 hours.

Dress Code

Comfortable boots or runners (sand shoes) and avoid white clothes. In winter bring warm clothes. Bring your camera!
