The Experience

Situated just 2 hours north of Sydney and 1 hour to the west of Newcastle, the Hunter Valley is the perfect setting for the flight of a lifetime...a hot air balloon ride! From our meeting point, you will be taken to one of our 20 launch sites, chosen on the morning to give you the best possible flight over the valley depending on the wind direction of the morning.

Once at the launch site the balloon is inflated and prepared for take-off. Your friends and family are welcome to experience the excitement of a balloon launch and watch you take off and bid you farewell as you float gently over the undulating valley below.

After 10 years of flying exclusively in the Hunter Valley your pilot will show you the best of the landmarks, wildlife and scenery the valley has to offer, and with only a few people on board you are assured 1st class service from start to finish.

Following the flight of approximately one hour the balloon will land, be quickly packed up before we all return to the meeting location to enjoy a fine glass of Hunter Valley bubbles. Your family and friends are of course welcome to join in the celebrations.

Duration

Please allow four hours for your entire experience.
Actual flight time is approximately 1 hour.

Dress Code

Wear casual clothing with flat, covered shoes (preferably water proof).
We recommend long trousers, long sleeved shirt and jacket with a hat to shield you from the heat of the balloon burners.
Bring your sunglasses and a bottle of water, especially in the warmer months.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How do I know if my flight is going ahead?
A: As ballooning is weather dependent, we ask all passengers to call our Flight Confirmation Line between 6:30-7:00pm the night before you are scheduled to fly. There will be a message confirming the status of your flight depending upon the latest weather forecast.

Q: How long does it all take?
A: 4 hours from meeting to departing is a good guide. Approximately one hour in the air, with the rest of the time taken with travelling to and from launch/landing sites, setting up and packing away the balloon, and of course drinking champagne at the end!

Q: Can my friends join us?
A: Family and friends are always welcome. Seeing a balloon inflate for the first time is a fantastic experience for anyone. If we have space in our vehicle, they are welcome to jump in. If not, then they can follow in their own car. By prior arrangement, we can provide them with a radio to listen in to the chatter between pilot and chase crew!

Q: Can I bring a camera?
A: Most definitely! We highly recommend it!

Q: What time do we meet?
A: As late as possible! With only a few people to check-in, we try and meet only 45 minutes before sunrise, ensuring you maximum sleep-in. This time varies throughout the year, 5am at the earliest, and 6:30am at the latest.
