The Experience

This 30 minute exclusive helicopter tour will see you flying over Lyndoch towards Seppeltsfield Winery, then onto Nuriootpa, over the Lime Marble Quarries, flying back over the valley floor past Tanunda, you will see many fine old historic buildings and churches from yesteryear before flying onto the famous Whispering Wall and back to base.

Your helicopter flight experience begins with a greeting by your pilot and ground crew and you will be required to complete the necessary paperwork prior to flying. From there, you will be given a safety briefing to ensure that your flight is enjoyable and safe.

Then you are off on your adventure with one of our experienced local pilots, to explore what the Barossa Valley has to offer – from the best view of all!

You will be flying in one of our new Robinson R44 Helicopters - where everyone has a 'window' seat and 180 degree views from inside the cabin. These helicopters are equipped with voice activated headsets so you can talk to each other and ask the pilot questions as you fly over the valley floor.

Once your flight is completed, one of our ground crew will escort you from the aircraft back to our reception area. Once back on solid ground, you can sit and enjoy a coffee or tea and talk about your experience, before heading off to enjoy the rest of your day.

Q. How many people can go on the tour at a time?
A. There is a maximum of 3 people per flight

Q. Won't it get really hot?
A. It does, but our helicopter is air-conditioned so you can enjoy your flight comfortably!

Q. Is there a weight restriction?
A. Any person weighing more than 110kg may incur an additional cost (Each flight has a maximum total weight limit including fuel and passengers. If the weight limit is exceeded, the cost of an additional seat may apply or flight may be declined)

Q. Can I take a camera?
A. Yes we encourage you to bring your camera or movie camera to help you remember your fabulous time at Barossa Helicopters.

Q. Do you recommend taking an anti-motion sickness medication?
A. This is a scenic tour, not a thrill ride. Most people do not experience motion sickness and do not need an anti-motion sickness medication. Our flights are very smooth and turns are slow and gentle. If you are particularly prone to motion sickness an anti-motion sickness medication is a good idea.

Q. How is the seating arranged?
A. The Robinson R44 are 3 passenger helicopters. Seating is assigned according to our weight and balance calculations. We cannot guarantee specific seating as it depends on the weight and balance of all the guests booked on a particular flight. Visibility for all passengers is excellent as there is no separating bulkhead to obscure the sweeping view for each seat.

Q. When is the best time to fly?
A. It is wise to book a tour early in your stay, that way if your pilot determines that weather conditions on a particular day are not the best for your tour, you will have some options for re-scheduling. As far as the best time of day for a helicopter tour you should consider your personal schedule. Most of the time we have nice weather, however during summer it can get quite hot, so it is best to schedule your flight for early morning. If we happen to have rainy weather, the pilot will consult the Bureau of Meteorology and determine if you will enjoy your tour and it will be safe to fly. We do not take our guests on a tour unless we are certain we can give you an excellent experience. Apart from not being enjoyable rain does damage the helicopters blades. The pilots decision is final, whatever the occasion.
